Benefits Of Chicory Root (Inulin)

Chicory root or inulin is a dietary fiber in the dandelion family. This fiber has many benefits and is often used as food additive or supplement to provide good gut bacteria to grow and proliferate the strengthen of your immune system.
 
In his latest book, "The Plant Paradox", Dr. Steven Gundry describes inulin as prebiotics that are in essence, indigestible sugars called fructooligosaccharides (FOS).  They feed the good gut bacteria (probiotics) that live near your gut wall, stimulating mucus production that helps to protect you from maladies such as leaky gut.
 
In an article written for the website "healthline.com", dated November 14, 2019, Lizzie Streit, MS, RDN, LD cited five emerging benefits and uses of chicory root fiber.
 
1. PACKED WITH THE PREBIOTIC FIBER INULIN
The inulin in chicory root acts as a prebiotic in that it feeds the beneficial bacteria or probobiotics in the gut.  These probiotics play a role in reducing  inflammation, fight the proliferation of harmful gut bacteria and improve mineral absorption.
 
In sum, chicory root (inulin), one of the ingredients in Slim and Trim Snacks' cauliflower crackers, encourages the growth and proliferation of healthy gut bacteria.
 
2. MAY AID BOWEL MOVEMENTS
Your body doesn't digest the fructose molecules in inulin: they pass through it and promote healthy elimination.

In light of the fact that the sugar molecules in inulin remain undigested is a benefit for those suffering from Type 2 diabetes.
